Laser Hair Removal

Introduction

Laser hair removal is a popular cosmetic procedure that uses a laser beam to target and destroy hair follicles, leading to long-term hair reduction. The procedure is safe and effective for both men and women on most areas of the body, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, bikini area, and back.

Patients will need to undergo a minimum of six treatments to achieve optimal results, as hair grows in cycles and not all hair follicles are active at the same time.

Overall, laser hair removal is a safe and effective procedure for long-term hair reduction, and it can help patients achieve smoother, hair-free skin.

Laser Hair Removal

The Treatment

The procedure begins with a consultation with one of our qualified providers, who will assess your skin type, hair type, and medical history to determine if you are a good candidate for laser hair removal. If you are a good candidate, we will discuss the treatment with you in its entirety, and answer any questions you may have.

During the procedure, the provider will use a handheld laser device to target the hair follicles in the treatment area. The laser emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles. The energy from the laser beam then heats and permanently damages the hair follicle, preventing it from producing new hair.

The procedure typically takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes, depending on the size and location of the treatment area. Patients may experience some mild discomfort during the procedure, but most people find it tolerable.

After the procedure, patients may experience a sunburn-like sensation, red bumps, and possible swelling in the treatment area, but these side effects usually subside within a few hours to a few days.

Fact vs Fiction
O
P
Is it truly permanent? - Since hormone levels impact hair growth, your laser hair removal treatment can be impacted as a result. The higher your hormone levels are, the faster your hair will grow and the more laser hair removal treatments you'll likely need. Multiple laser hair removal treatments are needed for initial hair removal, and maintenance treatments may be needed as well.
